American Hospital maintains its leading position in the healthcare sector with its well-established system that enables reliable patient care, mutual and transparent communication, self-assessment and continuous development through international quality accreditation.

The American Hospital embraces “continuous improvement” concept as the fundamental structure of its corporate culture with the goal to provide its patients medical care at international standards and quality. American Hospital is the first private hospital in Turkey to simultaneously hold the Joint Commission International, ISO 9001: Certificate of Quality, ISO 14001: Environmental Management System and IS0 27001: Information Security Management System certificates. In August 2018, Joint Commission International reaccredited American Hospital for the 6^th time.

With its Cardiology accreditation from the “European Association of Echocardiography”, Center of Excellence title by the “Surgical Review Corporation”, Sleep Laboratory accreditation by the “Turkish Sleep Medical Association” and algorithms at North American standards, American Hospital responds to the healthcare expectations of 21st century.

American Hospital was founded in 1920 under the leadership of Admiral Mark L. Bristol as the first non-profit private hospital of Turkey. School of Nursing was founded simultaneously with the hospital and has become an inseparable part of the institution ever since. First managed by the New York-based American Hospital of Istanbul Inc., and then transferred to the Vehbi Koç Foundation in 1995, which had been supporting the hospital since the foundation’s establishment. The Vehbi Koç Foundation invested more than 300 million USD in renovation and development efforts, supporting the American Hospital to achieve its leading position in the Turkish health sector.

Today, American Hospital has become the leading institution in the healthcare sector with its innovative and dynamic approach. It provides healthcare services with 200 patient rooms, 62 intensive care beds and 12 operating rooms. Each year, the hospital admits approximately 20 thousand inpatients, provides services to more than 120 thousand outpatients and performs more than 10 thousand surgeries.

Turkey’s First Patient Experience Office

In line with our value-oriented approach, we established Turkey’s first “Patient Experience Office” coordinated directly by the CEO. The Office evaluates feedbacks from patients regarding their perceptions to further increase the overall patient satisfaction.
